About Us

Meet your Host

has loved travel and real estate her whole life. She enjoyed traveling Europe and Greece in the 80’s, staying in small inns, hotels, youth hostels and even camping in a vineyard in southern France. Life takes zigs and zags and I fell in love with Paradise Valley and Yellowstone where I also met my husband, Gary. An extra cabin and house, an RV and another cabin sprouted a passion for providing unique and dinstinctive accommodations accented with the flavor of Montana.

About Gary

Originally from Williamsport, Maryland, Gary brings a lifelong curiosity and deep appreciation for nature, geology, and art to everything he does. After two decades working in research for GAF Corporation and studying geology at Hagerstown Community College, he felt called to the wide-open spaces of the West. Several trips to Montana sealed the deal—and he made the move to the small town of Pray. Here, Gary spent ten years in construction while exploring his creative side, eventually becoming a skilled artist known for his eye for color and detail. In 1999, he and Vicky purchased the historic Old Pray Bar and transformed it into Shining Mountain Gallery, a place filled with handcrafted art and stories that reflect the spirit of the land. Montana has given Gary the wild beauty he always longed for—space to hike, fish, hunt, and immerse himself in the geological wonders of Yellowstone. When he’s not working in the gallery, you can often find him exploring the backcountry or sharing stories with visitors. During your stay, don’t be surprised if you cross paths with Gary—he’s always happy to offer local tips or share a tale or two about life in Paradise Valley.

Meet Foxy, Our Friendly (and a Little Bossy) Senior

Don’t let her golden coat fool you — Foxy is far from a ditsy blonde! She’s smart, sneaky, and definitely in charge. Her favorite trick? Getting the other pups riled up about “something” outside, just long enough to snatch their treats when they’re not looking. Jessie, our other dog, has learned the hard way! Foxy also has a brave heart. Once, at Echo Lake near Bigfork, Montana, she leapt onto an air mattress with my brother Steve — but when she spotted me floating 30 feet away, she dove right in and swam out to join me. Since then, she’s earned the title of “Deep Water Dog.” While she occasionally dreams of catching big waves in California, she’s pretty content running the show here in the mountains of Montana.

Meet Bodhi, Our Pet Ambassador

Bodhi has a refined palate when it comes to treats—so naturally, he’s in charge of quality control! The treats we provide are all-natural, usually sourced from Costco or Sam’s Club, and proudly made in the USA. While Bodhi won’t be dropping by to visit your pup (he’s got a whole dog park to supervise at home!), we hope your furry friend enjoys exploring the area. Leashes are optional if you're comfortable—many pups enjoy the freedom of off-leash walks here. Happy tails and trails!
